Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Ten seniors will graduate Friday from Clovis Christian School and they’re running their own ceremony.
Each of the seniors has a part in the ceremony, including three speeches and grad Heather Cook acting as master of ceremonies.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” she said.
Cook and the other nine graduates returned from their six-day senior trip to southern California on Wednesday.
Cook said the 10 have been together since seventh grade.
“It’s going to be weird not seeing them every day in class,” Cook said. “We’re all very close.”
Cook is still deciding between Eastern New Mexico University and New Mexico State University but plans to study business.
“And I want to eventually settle down and have a family,” Cook said.
Cook said either way she’ll meet new faces and will stay in touch with her classmates.
Graduate Zach Silvers said the group is definitely not waiting to get rid of each other.
“We will do road trips,” Silvers said. “It’s like a family, brothers and sisters. There are moments when we get on each others nerves but we love each other.”
Silvers is planning to go to ENMU at least for the beginning of his degree.
“I still don’t know what I’m going to study but depending on degree, I’ll decide what I want to do,” Silvers said.
Silvers said he hopes to become a policeman in a big city in Texas. He wants to work his way onto the SWAT team.
“I like the adrenaline rush,” he said.
