Grassfire threatening home

A large grassfire near N.M. 206 and Roosevelt Road 12 has caused the evacuation of a home.

An estimated 50-100 acres have been burned, according to fire officials.

Portales, Dora, Arch, Elida, Causey and Floyd fire departments and the Roosevelt County Road Department have been called to fight the fire.

There is heavy smoke because of the heavy grass.
