Three Roosevelt County women were arrested on drug charges on Wednesday, a joint effort by Roosevelt and Curry county sheriff’s offices, Portales and Clovis police departments.
The arrests were made in the 800 block of South Avenue G. A narcotics search warrant was executed and during the search deputies found methamphetamine, cocaine and prescription hydrocodone packaged for sale as well as numerous items of drug paraphernalia, officials said.
Chelsey Aguirri, 20, of Portales was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking cocaine, distribution of prescription hydrocodone and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held at Roosevelt County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash only bond as well as a $1,500 cash surety bond.
Chandra Watkins, 26, of Portales was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Watkins, daughter of longtime Portales City Councilor Gary Watkins, was being held at the RCDC on a $7,500 cash surety bond.
Amber Gibson, 28, of Portales was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gibson was being held at RCDC on a $6,500 cash surety bond.
Roosevelt County Chief Deputy Malin Parker said the trafficking charges and possession of methamphetamine charges are felonies.
Aguirri and Chandra Watkins were in the house together when they were arrested, Parker said. “The third female (Gibson) drove up to the scene as we were executing the search warrant,” Parker said.
Parker said drugs were found in the house and in Aguirri’s car. Parker said drugs were also found in Gibson's belongings.
Gary Watkins declined comment.
