Gov. Bill Richardson announced Wednes-day he is seeking candidates to fill a magistrate judge position in Roosevelt County.

The position is being vacated by the Judge Jane Martin, who is retiring Aug. 31.

Richardson said a candidate will be appointed to serve as magistrate until the November general election.

A Portales News-Tribune request to interview Martin was declined.

According to a press release from Richardson, interested candidates should send their application, a signed background check form, resume, and letters of recommendation by 5 p.m. July 30.
