Mainline Bowl up for sale

The owners of Mainline Bowl are hoping to strike a deal and move on to retirement.

The bowling alley is for sale for $1.5 million, according to sales associate Susan DeGroot of Coldwell Banker.

She said the owners, Phillip and Alice Wood of Clovis, have no timetable for selling the 24-lane alley and will continue to operate it until it sells.

“They’ve owned it for 15 years,” DeGroot said. “They just want to retire.”

The alley includes a cafe, and recent improvements include a new scoring system, ceiling and roof. Many of those renovations became necessities after the alley took significant damage from a March 2007 tornado.

Any changes to operating hours for the alley and the cafe, or hours set aside for league bowling, would be up to new ownership.

“There’s a lot to be made in the kitchen if you have that open for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” DeGroot said. “It depends on what your hours are, it depends on how many leagues there are.

“The return would depend on how well they managed it.”
