Wellness center holding ribbon cutting

The Clovis Wellness Center is taking another step in its progress Tuesday.

A 4 p.m. ribbon cutting is scheduled for the new aerobics room. Clark Campbell of the wellness center, which will absorb the Clovis Aquatic Center, said the center is in the process of adding an aqua zumba aerobics class and is seeking individuals interested in teaching one-hour classes.

“We’re really pushing right now to get aerobics, dance aerobics, tai chi, step aerobics, kickboxing. We’re trying to get a wide variety of classes and instructors,” Campbell said.

The classes will require city commission approval, but Campbell didn’t see much reason for opposition, since it approved an aerobics room as part of the wellness center.

Future phases will add weight rooms, a lap pool and a competition pool, Campbell said.

“It will be a nice setup when we get it done,” he said.

Clovis Swim Club coach Vince deMaio will assist in the ceremony.
