Obstetrics open house — Plains Regional Medical Center along with the 27th Special Operations Medical Group, Women’s Medical Center and La Casa Health Care will host an open house at 10 a.m. Sept. 24 at the medical center.

There will be a focus group that will include several new and expectant mothers to assess opportunities to improve the delivery of care.

Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta — Sign up by Sept. 19 for the world’s largest balloon festival, October 2-3. The $15 price includes transportation and entrance to the event. Call 784-1275 for information.

Ruidoso military appreciation weekend — Limited complimentary hotel rooms are available are available for Military Appreciation Weekend in Ruidoso on Oct. 15-16. MAW Heroes Weekend is a two-day weekend event for the service members and their families. The Air Force Band of the West will perform Oct. 16, along with a flyover, classic car display.
