9/11 memorial ceremony set

The James Polk Stone Community Bank will host its annual 9/11 community memorial ceremony 7:30 a.m. today, according to a press release.

The ceremony will take place near the bank’s flag pole at the corner of Abilene and West First Streets.

Portales Police Deputy Chief Lonnie Berry and J.P. Stone Community Bank President David Stone will be featured speakers at the event.

The Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard will participate in the ceremony along with the Victory Life Church worship team.

Leroy Thomas of Portales will offer prayer during the service.

The ceremony honors those who died in the terrorist attacks and law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency responders and military personnel serving the community and the country.
