Closing arguments are tentatively set for Monday in the trial for a Tucumcari man accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend.
Earl Moses Ingram, 31, appeared Friday in the 10th Judicial District Court charged with multiple felony charges, including the attempted murder of Amber Simpson, 27, of Tucumcari on July 24, 2009.
A jury was selected on Thursday and opening arguments were heard.
Court resumed Friday with the testimony from officers responding to a domestic dispute July 24 in the 1700 block of South Fifth Street in Tucumcari.
Ingram was captured Aug. 10, 2009 in Clovis.
Ingram had been on the run from law enforcement for two weeks after police said he had beat Simpson, stole her car and led police on a high-speed chase before escaping on foot.
Ingram was in jail pending a hearing for another assault case, which involved Simpson in April 2009.
District Court Judge Albert J. Mitchell released Ingram July 21, 2009, for two weeks so he could visit his children, records show.
Mitchell ordered Ingram to “stay away” from Simpson.
