Portales woman charged with child abuse in connection with crash

A Portales woman faces three felony child abuse charges and a misdemeanor drunken driving charge in connection with a crash Sunday in Portales.

According to court records, 26-year-old Natalie Soto crashed her Chevrolet Cavalier into a cinderblock fence early Sunday morning in the 1200 block of North Avenue M.

Court records indicated her two children were riding in the back seat. The children’s ages are not specified in the report.

Police said they smelled alcohol on Soto and administered a breath test at police headquarters, which she failed.
