Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Bible study author Beth Moore, who focuses on women’s ministries, is appearing in Portales on Saturday via satellite.
Linda Davis, who helped organize the event at Emmanuel Baptist Church, said Moore’s presentation would be broadcast on a delay from Chicago. She said she’s expecting 150 attendees, including 30 volunteers, in Portales, but more than 100,000 are expected to be watching from sites around the world.
“Beth will bring good, solid Bible teaching, (and) experiences from her past with a dysfunctional family,” Davis said. “She relates to women on all levels. She laughs with us, cries with us, teaches us.”
Moore doesn’t use a standard theme on all of her presentations but was considering speaking on Proverbs 31:26, which deals with women speaking with wisdom and kindness, on Saturday, Davis said.
Besides the teaching, a book store with materials from Moore, music by her worship leader Travis Cottrell and other products is planned to be available.
Tickets are still available, and $20 pays for the day-long presentation, lunch, a goodie bag, an afternoon snack and a listening guide, said Jo Rackler, Portales event organization and prayer team member.
Rackler said her group had also organized people to pray throughout the time of the simulcast, and they would be available to counsel and pray for people there.
Moore’s staff and organizers at Emmanuel Baptist have been praying for the event in advance as well, Rackler said.
She said attendees should arrive early because the simulcast must start at 10:30 a.m.
“It really will encourage people to strive for a better life, for a more Christ-like life... It’s very uplifting if you’re down,” Rackler said.
