My turn: Song lets me know I’m not alone

The praise band of Central Christian Church here in Portales does an outstanding job performing a song by Christian group Barlow Girl, and that performance is this week’s video selection.

Under the direction of band director and college minister Don Thomas, singers Holly Davis and Cheyenne Keith harmonize beautiful lyrics to a song that speaks to me personally, called “Never Alone.”

This song speaks to me in particular because though I can’t always feel the presence of God around, I know and believe he is there with me all of the time. “And though I cannot see you and I can’t explain why such a deep, deep reassurance you’ve placed in my life,” the song says.

The song is rounded out with Walker Parton on the piano, Ryan Wood on drums, Jared Massey on bass, Matt McAlister on lead guitar and Jenn Hunter on the cello.

As I begin a new journey in my life on Oct.1, in a new city with new people, it’s re-assuring to know that I’ll never be alone.
