Houston teacher arrested after Curry County online sting

A Houston area school teacher was arrested Friday for child solicitation following an investigation by the Curry County Sheriff’s Office.

Michael Crawley, 30, is being held in Harris County, Texas, in lieu of $200,000 bond, Undersheriff Wesley Waller said Monday.

Curry County deputies contacted the Harris County Texas High Tech Crimes Unit, who charged Crawley with online solicitation of a minor and distributing obscene material to a minor.

He is also charged in Curry County with solicitation of a child by electronic device, Waller said.

Waller said Crawley contacted an undercover decoy profile set up to appear in chat rooms as a Clovis seventh grade girl.

During discussions with the decoy, Crawley transmitted nude images of himself through a webcam, performed sex acts on camera and instructed the decoy on sexual techniques, Waller said.

Crawley, who resides in Spring, Texas, north of Houston, is a seventh grade teacher with the Conroe Independent School District and is an active member of a national youth outreach church program, Waller said.
