Police arrest two in stabbing

Clovis police arrested two men Monday in connection with a Sept. 18 stabbing.

Kenneth Lamar Nash, 24, and Angelo Vargas, 25, are being held at the Curry County jail.

Vargas is facing two charges — aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated burglary — and is being held on $35,000 bond, as is Nash, who is charged as an accessory to those crimes, according to a press release from police.

Police said the pair forced their way into the apartment of Eric Lundgren and attacked him. Lundgren told officers he armed himself with a kitchen knife.

Lundgren told police he stabbed at Vargas and wounded him, but Vargas took the knife from him, and stabbed him in the face, buttocks, arm and leg.

The release said Lundgren escaped through a rear window and ran to another apartment to call for help.

Lundgren was flown to a Lubbock hospital where he was treated for his wounds and released the following day.

Vargas’ wounds were treated at Plains Regional Medical Center, and he was released.
