A 22-year-old Clovis man was arrested Saturday after police say he threatened a Portales man with a gun and beat him.
Jonathan Jones is charged with felony aggravated assault and with battery, a petty misdemeanor.
According to Portales police records:
About 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Portales police officers were called to a residence in the 1600 block of South Avenue F on a report of someone in the house with a gun. They found the caller, his 24-year-old roommate and four other people.
The 32-year-old man who called police said his roommate and the other four people came to the house after leaving a bar and woke him up. He demanded that the guests leave.
Police said Jones pointed a gun at the 32-year-old man and eventually assaulted him.
Officers discovered that at Clovis woman at the scene had an outstanding warrant for contempt.
Jones was released after posting $6,000 bond. The Clovis woman was released on a $171 bond.
Jones could not be reached for comment.
