Police searching for missing Portales woman

Maria Galvan, 63, of Portales has been missing since Saturday afternoon.

“She was homebound with health issues and ended up leaving the home,” said Portales Police Deputy Chief Lonnie Berry.

Galvan left her residence, 1018 N. Ave. A, on foot in an unknown direction Saturday. Berry said a family member reported her missing, and police have searched for her throughout the weekend and Monday.

According to a news release from the New Mexico State Police, Galvan has Alzheimer’s and diabetes.

Galvan was last seen wearing a red T-shirt and red pants. According to the release, she is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and about 200 pounds with shoulder-length gray hair and brown eyes.

Galvan has family in Portales and Carlsbad, according to the release.
