Wednesday morning briefing: Call for volunteers, ticket deadline and a bridge to gold

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Wednesday briefing.

Calling on you

The new Portales Quality of Life Committee will be holding focus groups at the end of January and needs volunteers.

Community members interested in participating in these focus groups will be chosen randomly from all who volunteer.

Kitchen tip of the week

To get your caffeine fix quicker in the morning, get your coffee ready to start at night, putting the water and grounds in the coffeemaker so you can just turn it on in the morning.

You can also buy an automatic timer that starts the coffeemaker at just the right time to have hot coffee waiting for you when you get up.

Chamber banquet

The deadline is Friday to purchase tickets for the 2011 Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Banquet Jan. 14 at the Clovis Civic Center.

The festivities begin with a reception honoring the Chamber’s past presidents at 6 p.m. with the dinner staring at 6:45 p.m.
