Clovis man airlifted to Lubbock after crash

Freedom New Mexico

Sheriff deputies said Freedom New Mexico employee Bill Atkinson of Clovis was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital as a precaution for non-life threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash shutdown US-70 and N.M. 202/Cacahuate Road at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Roosevelt County Chief Deputy Malin Parker said a deputy on scene told him the other driver struck Atkinson from behind after reaching for something in the floor of the vehicle.

“He looked back up and saw it was too late to stop when he hit Atkinson from behind pushing him through the intersection,” Parker said. “Atkinson hit the dirt embankment and rolled four or five times.”

The driver of the other vehicle, who deputies didn’t identify, suffered minor injuries said Parker.
