The YMCA of Central New Mexico has signed a lease for a new location in Clovis with an opening scheduled at an undetermined date this spring.
Doug Nakashima, CEO of YMCA of Central New Mexico, said the non-profit signed a lease Friday for a 10,000 square foot building in the Hilltop Shopping Center.
Nakashima said renovation of the facility has already started.
Parks and Recreation Director Bill Bizzell said that finding a location is a stepping stone for the organization to branch out into the community.
“This is a positive move for them,” Bizzell said.
Nakashima said the YMCA is developing a 2011 summer day camp program for kindergarten through eighth grade.
He said other activities and programs are being discussed but nothing has been finalized yet.
