Top area performances from the week of Jan. 17-22:
• Freshmen Madison Silveira (100 butterfly and 100 backstroke) and Caitlin Myers (100 freestyle and 200 freestyle), each won two individual events to lead Clovis to the girls title Artesia Invitational swim meet.
Senior Kenan Bussen set a school record in the 200 individual medley as Clovis finished second in the boys meet, one point behind Hobbs.
• Clovis junior Paige Gardner poured in a career-best 19 points and grabbed 16 rebounds in a 49-41 win over visiting Santa Fe Indian School.
• Portales senior Stephen Shields scored 18 points and the Rams routed Mesilla Valley 68-41.
• Melrose sophomore Cara Barnard scored 29 points in a 61-31 win over Dora.
• Junior Kevin Naceanceno and freshman Kendall Naceanceno scored 22 and 19 points respectively in Clovis Christian’s 70-58 win over Melrose.
