Minor injuries reported in car wreck

A crash involving a semitrailer and small car totaled both vehicles and resulted in a minor injury about 11 a.m. Monday at N.M. 467 and Roosevelt Road 3.

Roosevelt County Chief Deputy Malin Parker said it appeared the car struck the semitrailer on the driver’s side. The car became stuck under the semi, causing the rig to skid.

As the truck continued to skid, Parker said, the car bounced into it several times before it became lodged under the truck.

The out-of-control truck dragged the car approximately 55 yards through a chain-link fence and down an embankment before coming to rest on Combs Electrical and Mechanical property.

Parker said the semi driver was unhurt and the woman driving the car was taken to Roosevelt General Hospital for observation with very minor injuries.

Parker declined to comment on the cause of the wreck or if citations would be issued because the investigation was ongoing.
