• Texico sophomore Shaylee Anderson scored 21 points in a 65-38 win over Cuba in a first-round game of the Class 2A girls state basketball tournament.
• Clovis junior Paige Gardner had 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the Lady Wildcats’ 70-46 win over Volcano Vista in a first-round game of the Class 5A state basketball tournament.
• Fort Sumner junior Skylar McMath scored a season-high 21 points in a 67-48 win over Dora in a first-round game of the Class 1A boys state basketball tournament.
• Melrose junior Kelsey Draper scored 26 points in a 69-40 win over Springer in a first-round game of the Class 1A state tournament.
• Eastern New Mexico senior Anthony Smith pitched a complete-game three hitter in a 4-2 win over Southwestern Oklahoma. The right-hander struck out seven and walked one.
