amos the churchmouse:

a view from under the pew

Editor’s note: Amos is a churchmouse, who types by hopping on the computer keyboard, but he can’t operate the capital shift, and he shuns punctuation marks – except hyphens and dashes.

life in a matchbox or

amendments to

solomon s proverbs

life is a paradox boss

it s a little like

humility the moment

you think you ve got

it you ve really lost it

it s like trying to

catch the wind

the more you go

after it the less

you get

in fact if you re as

out of shape as i

am you not only

don t catch the

wind but lose your

breath in the

process

he who spends his

life stealing somebody

else s cheese will

someday meet his match

in a spring-loaded

trap

boss i ve heard tell

that some christians

are like little

fireflies they re

sorta off and on

off and on

here they are and

then they re gone

here they are and

then they re gone

too many flies in

the soup spoils

the appetite

unless you happen

to be a frog

too many frogs in

the soup spoils

nearly everybody s

appetite

a wise mouse lays up

knowledge as a squirrel

stores up nuts -

except knowledge lasts

longer - especially if

you eat as much as

stanley squirrel does

he who gathers in the

summer is a wise

mouse but he who hops

around and parties

with the grasshoppers

causes shame for his

momma and poppa mouse

a gossipy ladybug

reveals secrets and

scatters pain but a

faithful close-mouthed

friend keeps harmony in

the church pew underworld

he who withholds his

cheese the other mice

shall curse but blessing

shall be upon the head

of him who generously

shares

as a golden ring in a

pig s snout so is a

lovely ladybug with rude

manners or a foul mouth
