Tucumcari woman facing burglary charge

A Tucumcari woman has been arrested on charges of auto burglary, after two men said they caught her in the act.

Beth Olguin-Romero, 19, of Tucumcari is charged with burglary, a fourth-degree felony.

According to police reports:

• Officers were sent to the 700 block of West 18th Street about 3:40 a.m. Saturday in reference to a report of an auto burglary in progress.

•Upon arriving, one officer spoke with a 43-year-old man who was standing with Olguin-Romero, who he said he saw in his red Camaro. The officer detained the woman in the back seat of her patrol car.

•The owner of the car said nothing was missing.

•Olguin-Romero said she was at a party somewhere on South Avenue F and was intoxicated. Olguin-Romero said she was walking by when a man came out of the house and told her to get on the ground, and she obeyed.

•Officers arrested Olguin-Romero, and she was booked into Roosevelt County Detention Center.

Olguin-Romero was released on a $5,000 cash or surety bond Monday night, according to the detention center.

Olguin-Romero’s father, Robert Romero, said the only comment he had was that the family was trying to get things resolved and figure out the situation.
