Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
Clovis resident Kay Berry has helped seniors and other with their taxes through the AARP Tax Aide program for 18 years. Much of her time is dedicated to volunteering. At her church Trinity United Methodist, she is on the finance committee, treasurer at the women’s group and the Sunday school class and she sings in the choir. Berry also volunteers with the Plains Regional Medical Center auxiliary, as a cashier at the senior meal site one day a week and with a third grade classroom at Parkview Elementary School.
“The Lord has blessed me in so many ways and volunteering gives me an opportunity to pass on these blessings to others,” she said.
Berry worked as a teacher for 25 years and said she enjoyed getting to know her students and watching them grow into adults.
In her spare time she reads, crochets and attends basketball games.
“I’d be a sports widow if I didn’t go with my husband,” Berry said.
