Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Thursday briefing.

Fair warning

Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Clovis police will be operating a DWI checkpoint somewhere within the city.

Officers will be targeting drunk drivers.

Holiday closing

Eastern New Mexico University in Portales will be closed on

Monday for Labor Day.

The campus will reopen and classes will resume on Tuesday.

Today in history

In this day in 1985, some 73 years after it sunk to the North Atlantic ocean floor, a joint U.S.-French expedition locates the wreck of the RMS Titanic.

The sunken liner was about 400 miles east of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic.
