The Roosevelt County Commission met in a work session Wednesday in the county courthouse to discuss the possibility of building a new Magistrate Court complex.
Judge Linda Short and Ruth Dygert of Magistrate Court were present at the meeting.
County Clerk Janet Collins said the county would pay for the building and lease it to the courts.
She said the discussion included the need for more room and security in the Magistrate Court building.
Collins said the hope is that a new facility will ensure a safer work environment for court employees.
Collins said the meeting was a preliminary planning session for the possibility of building a new facility and no action has been taken at this time.
