Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
I really had a great time covering the Eastern New Mexico University homecoming last weekend.
Being an ENMU alumni, it was nice for me to be able to participate in and enjoy homecoming for the first time in my history with the university.
As a college student, I not only went to school full-time, but usually worked multiple jobs too, so homecoming was not something I got the luxury of enjoying. It was nice to be able to this time. I’m not sure if the highlight was taking pictures of excited children catching candy at the parade or if it was writing the preview story and catching the “homecoming fever” from talking to excited students and faculty.
For entertainment this weekend, Portales is holding two of its major annual events: The High Plains Quilt Festival, being held at the Memorial Building, and the Peanut Valley Festival, being held at the ENMU CUB, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Tuesday marks the second concert in the Yam Music Series with local band Skasage playing at 7 p.m. at the Yam Theatre. Tickets are sold at the door and it’s only $5, so check it out.
