Wednesday morning briefing: Cop food, a beauty pageant and a day of infamy

Good morning and welcome to the Freedom New Mexico Wednesday briefing.

Shop with a cop

The Clovis Police department has three events planned Thursday to help raise money for Shop with a Cop, their annual project for kids.

Officers will be taking donations for doughnuts at Daylight Doughnuts in Clovis from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m.

If that’s too early, officers will be teamed up with wait staff at Leal’s Prince Street restaurant from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Applebee’s from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Money raised helps pay costs of a Christmas shopping spree for local children.

Free food

There’s a Community Christmas meal from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday or until food is gone at American Legion Post No. 25, 2400 W. Seventh St.

It’s free and open to the public.

Information: 763-5392.

Christmas pageant

The annual little miss merry christmas pageant is 6 p.m. Thursday at the Yam Theatre in Portales.

It’s a fundraiser to help pay for Christmas lights in Portales.
