Elida teen dies in one-vehicle rollover

An Elida teenager died Friday afternoon from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle rollover in southern Roosevelt County earlier in the day, according to state police.

Brittn'y Mowell, 17, was driving a 2003 Pontiac minivan east on South Roosevelt Road 24 about 11:30 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, according to Capt. Jimmy Glascock of the New Mexico State Police. The vehicle left the north side of the road and rolled about five miles southeast of Elida, he said. Mowell, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.

After being transported Roosevelt General Hospital, she was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital, where she died, Glascock said.
