Meetings watch: Eastern Plains Council of Governments

The Eastern Plains Council of Governments met Wednesday morning at the Tucumcari Convention Center.

During the meeting:

  • EPCOG Director Sandy Chancey discussed several items with the board, including news of an audit update being awarded to Hinkle and Landers of Albuquerque, and the intent to hire workforce development administrative entity and fiscal agent. An RFP has been submitted for the position but no candidate has been interviewed.
  • Property manager Renee Ortiz gave her updates on properties owned by the EPCOG. She noted that the Ruth Visage Apartments in Portales, the Rio Pecos Estates in Santa Rosa and the San Jon Estates were all at 98 or 100 percent occupancy.
  • A wind energy report was given on a Jan. 11 Xcel Energy program in Roswell. The training, which fit under a green construction grant, drew 44 participants from across the state.
  • It was noted that capital outlay requests were made for water system upgrades in Causey and a new fire truck in Grady.
  • An executive session was held to discuss threatened or pending litigation, and disposal or acquisition of real property, and limited personnel matters. No action was taken.
