Today marks another Friday the 13th and instead of asking local residents what their superstitions are, here is a list compiled of things connected to the number 13 in Portales:

- A limited edition New Mexico centennial Pendleton blanket signed by Gov. Susana Martinez was issued to the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce. The issue number of the blanket is 13 of 400 blankets. No bids were made on the blanket at the chamber banquet auction.
"Anybody who wants to fly in the face of superstition can buy a raffle ticket for this blanket," said chamber director Karl Terry. The blanket will be raffled at the Peanut Festival in October.
- The 13th item sold at the local sandwich shop, Do Drop in, was a 16-ounce caramel macchiato beverage.
- The 13th call on the Portales police blotter on Thursday was made at 9:37 a.m. regarding a traffic hazard in the road way.
- There is no 13th Street in Portales. City officials blame in on superstition and triskaidekaphobia, the fear of the number 13, but can't say for sure.
- Portales store, The Main Place, is the 13th listing under the letter M, the 13th letter in the alphabet, in the Portales phone book.
- There are 13 residents listed under the names of Brown, Chavez, Clark, Lopez, Lucero, Ortega and Terry in the Portales phone book.
- Kayla Paulk, music instructor, is the 13th person listed in Eastern New Mexico University's music directory.
- Dan Hays is the 13th all-time leading scorer in the ENMU's men's basketball with 1,217. He played from 1965 to 1968.
- Margie Martinez is the 13th among the women with 1,028. She played from 1977 to 1981.
- Senior Wyatt Legler wore the No. 13 jersey for the Portales Rams baseball team. No bad luck there. The Rams won the school's first state baseball title.
- Senior defensive specialist Cynthia Armijo wore No. 13 in volleyball for the Lady Rams, who finished the regular season with 13 wins.
