Sign worker electrocuted (Updated)

One Clovis man died and another was severely burned when they apparently suffered electric shocks Friday while working on a billboard on east Mabry Drive, police said.

Timothy J. Krach, 28, of Clovis, was killed and Randy Armstrong, 27, of Clovis, was flown to a Lubbock hospital for treatment, Clovis Police Capt. Patrick Whitney said. Armstrong's condition wasn't immediately known.

The billboard is located between Curry Road H and Curry Road G, Whitney said.

Whitney said the accident took place about 2:30 p.m. and the cause remains under investigation. Both workers are employees of Clovis Signs.

Multiple attempts to reach officials with Clovis Signs were not successful Friday evening.

Krach was known to friends and coworkers as T.J.

His aunt, Rhonda Kirkland, said the most important thing for her was knowing that Krach had accepted Jesus as his savior.

"He was a happy, fun loving guy," Kirkland said. "If T.J. was in the room, there was always laughter."

Topaz Baca, a friend since 2004, described Krach as a good-natured person who always tried to make the best of every situation and wanted to see everyone happy. She said she liked his smile and laugh most.

Baca said Krach was single and had a son, Aiden, 5, whom he constantly posted pictures of on Facebook. Baca said Krach enjoyed dirt bike riding and had been working for Clovis Signs for about a year.

"As soon as I learned that it was Clovis Signs workers I immediately started praying because I knew that he worked for Clovis Signs," said Baca, breaking into tears.

"I started praying that it wasn't him."

Baca learned that Krach had died when a Facebook friend posted "rest in peace TJ."

"I think they (friends and family) all know what kind of person he was," Baca said.

"He was a great person. He was a good daddy and great friend and I hope he is remembered for all of that."
