Caught off guard people empty their purse or bag and explain why they carry each item they have on them. Erin Baker of Portales attributes much of what's in her purse to her four children. She added she didn't carry a purse around until she had children.

Why do you carry?
- Orange Sharpie marker: I probably confiscated it from one of the children. They have decorated many things.
- Gum: I always have gum with me.
- A hoard of receipts: I never remember to throw them away.
- Old cough drops: I never clean out my purse
- A Game Stop card: Because my son talked me into getting a card for his video game use.
- Lip gloss: I always wear it or I feel naked.
- A blue hair tie and a barrette: I have long hair. I need something to tie it up.
- Dangly earrings: I got tired of wearing them so I threw them in my purse.
- Cash, credit card and driver's license: The usual stuff.
- A pencil: It's probably been in there since last semester.
- Random pieces of candy: Because I probably took those away from the children.
