Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
City officials are looking to hire a city manager trainee with current City Manager Tom Howell retiring in a little more than a year.
City councilors discussed the job description of the position at Tuesday night's city council meeting and ultimately decided to have a workshop in two weeks on the duties of this position.
"We need to see what we want that person to be doing in the interim," said Mayor Sharon King.
King suggested the possibility of this position lobbying for the city of Portales in addition to other duties.
Qualifications for the proposed position include a bachelor's degree in a field related to public administration or four years equivalent progressively responsible experience supervising and managing a local government entity.
The proposed position would serve under Howell.
