My Turn - Events special around holidays

What is it about Christmas that makes events and activities all the more magical and special? There are many venues I enjoy on an average day, such as dinners and concerts, but something about Christmas elements being added to them makes them all the more special.

I know I'm not the only one with this sentimental outlook because I've seen other faces light up at recent Christmas decorating, parades and concerts.

The holiday concert with the Eastern New Mexico University choirs was magical last weekend and caused both me and coworker Christina Calloway to tear up thinking about all the Christmas traditions we are missing out on this year with our families. Thus the price you for being a grown up.

Not having certain special traditions with my mom for the first time this year has made me appreciate even more being a part of others' Christmas moments as a reporter.

If I can't be hanging my special Nutcracker ornaments on the tree with my mom this year, I'm glad I can experience the magic and excitement of watching children decorate their own ornaments and trees and adults singing and baking cookies because they want to show their love and Christmas spirit to their neighbors.
