Information on making fringe flowers with an embroidery machine, using fabric flowers for brooches, headbands and more, and making easy handmade gifts will be the featured topics on "Creative Living" 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and noon on Thursday. (All times are Mountain.)
Designer and digitizer, Laura Waterfield, owner of Laura's Sewing Studio, says that fringe flowers add additional dimension to embroidery designs. She'll demonstrate several types of fringe flowers that can be made with an embroidery machine. She lives in Tomball, Texas.
Megan Thome, formerly with EK Success Brands in Kansas City, Mo., will feature a variety of fabric flowers that can be used as brooches, headbands, shoe clips, and other fashion accents. She will highlight "chiffon chic" style of flowers in her demonstration.
Shannon Wooton is an Extension Home Economist with the NM Cooperative Extension Service, and she is going to feature some easy handmade gifts, such as a superfast jelly roll quilt, a quilted bookmarker, hip headband, apron and a ten minute table topper. These make great gifts any time of the year. She lives in Roswell.
Inform-ation on preparing light meals, making a coupon wallet and gel candles will be the featured topics on "Creative Living" noon on Tuesday and 2 p.m. on Saturday. (All times are Mountain.)
Sue Vaughn, a cookbook author from Lamesa, Texas, will share some quick tips for preparing a light and nutritious meal. Her company is Jan-Su Publications.
Sewing expert and author, Patsy Shields will demonstrate a technique for making a wallet sewn with four separate compartments, and it uses a basic utility stitch, beautiful fabrics and zippers. She is with Sulky of America in Sellersburg, Ind.
Diane Lieb will show how to make gel candles, which make great gift items. Gel candles are especially good choices for places that don't allow candles to be burned, and the aroma is wonderful. She's from Portales.
Layered Tex-Mex cornbread salad
Prepare cornbread mix as directed on package. When cool, crumble the cornbread in a large dish. Top with half of the remaining ingredients, except sour cream and salsa. Repeat the layers. Mix together sour cream and salsa. Top mixture with sour cream and salsa mixture and additional jalapeno slices. Cover and chill 2 to 3 hours before serving.
