WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Sophomore forward Andrea Carter poured in a season-high 21 points Saturday night and Midwestern State extended its winning streak to 11 and avenged its most recent loss with a 67-52 Lone Star Conference women's basketball victory over Eastern New Mexico University.
Carter added 10 rebounds for the league-leading Mustangs (18-3, 13-2 LSC), posting her 11th double-double of the season.
Senior guard Hannah Altheide and freshman guard Jordyn Cooper shared scoring honors with 11 points each for the Zias (5-18, 4-11), who beat MSU 70-62 at Greyhound Arena on Jan. 31.
The Mustangs built a double-figure lead in less than eight minutes. The Zias were still within 28-20 with 3:20 left in the half after a basket by senior Tara Johnson, but sophomore guard Dianna Jones' 3-pointer from the top of the key closed out an 8-0 run which sent MSU into the locker room with a 36-20 lead.
Midwestern opened a 53-30 lead with just over 12 minutes left before the Zias finished the game on a 23-14 run.
