Schools open today

The threat of snow in the area was not enough to prompt area school officials to close campuses today.

Most area schools, including those in Clovis, Portales, Texico, Melrose and Grady opened on time this morning.

According to accuweather.com:

• Light snowfall is expected today, totaling 1-2 inches.
• The day is expected to be breezy and cold with a daytime high of 37 degrees and a nighttime low of 23 degrees.

Tonight is expected to be clear.
