Rams' game with Lovington reset for tonight

The District 4-3A boys seeding playoff game between Portales and Lovington at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, postponed on Monday night by the recent snow, has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. today at NMMI.

The Rams (15-10, 3-1 district) and Wildcats (7-19, 3-1) tied for the regular-season district title. PHS athletic director Mark Gallegos said the district tournament will now be played on a Thursday-Saturday format — with a doubleheader format for both, if Portales wins tonight.

If the Rams win, Lovington will host Ruidoso at 5:30 and 7 p.m. on Thursday and PHS would host championship games at the same times on Saturday. If Lovington wins, the Wildcats will host the Warriors and the Lady Rams will host Ruidoso at 7 p.m. on Thursday, and championship games would be at 7 p.m. Saturday at Lovington (boys) and Portales (girls).

In District 8-1A, Floyd was slated to host a doubleheader against Jal on Monday night. Those games have been moved to 5:30 (girls) and 7 p.m. (boys) for today, and will be preceded at 3 p.m. by a District 3-1A girls seeding playoff game between Fort Sumner and Melrose.
