ENMU women second at Ranger rodeo

RANGER, Texas — Senior Kaity Ray took first place in breakaway roping to lead the Eastern New Mexico University women's rodeo team to a second-place finish over the weekend in the Ranger College rodeo.

The Zias finished with 220 points, trailing Tarleton State with 375.

Ray, from Los Lunas, split first and second place in the first-go in breakaway and came in second in the short go, good enough to give her the win.

Other highlights for the Zias included a third-place finish in goat tying by junior Katelynn Lide after a second-place finish in the first go, while junior TiAra Gray split third and fourth in the first go of breakaway roping.

ENMU's men finished with 55 points courtesy of Dora junior Jesse Clark, who split first and second in the first go of calf roping. Tarleton also won men's competition with 575 points.

ENMU squads return to action on March 21 in the South Plains College rodeo at Levelland, Texas.
