Clovis firefighters respond to grass fire

Clovis firefighters responding to a call at about 4 p.m. Thursday arrived at an area of state road 209 about 15 miles north of town to find a large section of grassland engulfed in flames, according to Clovis Fire Station One Battalion Chief Dale Hand.

According to Hand:

• Six firefighters extinguished the flames in 30 minutes.
• Firefighters took another 15 minutes to knock out hotspots.
• There were no injuries or structures damaged.
