Eastern New Mexico University freshman Jacqueline Candelaria was down to the last chance to extend her modest hitting streak to five games.
More important, she was trying to break up Tarleton State pitcher Randi Fentress' no-hitter.
Candelaria came through with a clean first-pitch single between third and short, but that was the Zias' only highlight in a 7-0 Lone Star Conference loss to the TexAnns at Zia Softball Field.
Fentress (12-10) got all three decisions in th series for the TexAnns (21-15, 9-6 LSC), including a loss in the opener of Friday's doubleheader that snapped ENMU's 14-game losing streak against Tarleton.
Two Zias errors led to four unearned runs for Tarleton in the second inning, with second baseman Kelsey Latta driving in two of them with a double. Tarleton made it 6-0 in the third on a two-out, two-run single to center by desginated player Tanner Pipkin.
Fentress walked three and struck out four. She wasin trouoble in the third when Ke VonSchriltz was hit by a pitch with one out and Beatriz Caporal reached on an error, but got out of it when she speared Kyra Sirag's line drive and threw to first for a double play.
Sophomore Katie Ramsay (3-16) took the loss. Sophomore Albie Medina pitched five innings of effective relief, allowing one run on four hits with one walk and five strikeouts.
Melody Mayse had three of Tarleton's seven hits, while catcher Bailee Mauldin went 2-for-4.
