Lady Rams cruise in sweep at Eunice

EUNICE — Junior catcher Simone Laurenz went 2-for-3 in both games as the Portales High softball squad routed Eunice 11-0 and 21-2 in a pair of run-rule-shortened games on Friday.

Portales (12-5) scored in seven of the nine innings, tallying at least three runs in each scoring frame. Meantime, freshman Kiersten Ramirez threw a one-hitter in the five-inning opener senior Summer Martinez allowed just four hits in the four-inning nightcap, each finishing with six strikeouts.

Sophomore Kailee Ramirez, Summer Martinez and Destynea Martinez all had three RBIs in Game 2, including a home run by Kailee Ramirez.

PHS returns to action today with an 11 a.m. contest at Clovis.
