ROSWELL — Senior Paige Hartman shot 78 on Tuesday at New Mexico Military Golf Course and finished fifth overall in the Spring Classic golf tournament.
Hartman shot a 76 on Monday at Spring River Golf Course for a two-day total of 154. The Lady Rams finished 12th as a team, shooting 378-379 — 757.
The PHS boys, playing on Tuesday Spring River, shot a score of 345 for a two-day total of 677, also good for 12th place in a mostly Class 4A-5A field.
Freshman Bailey Rowley followed up her 84 on Monday with a an 88 on Tuesday for a 172 total. Defending Class 3A state champion Socorro cruised to the team championship at 302-311 — 613 and had three of the top four individuals, including champion Shania Bdrger at 71-70 — 141, 2 under par.
For the PHS boys, senior Jackson Powers shot 82 on Tuesday to finish at 162 while eighth-grader Andrew Underbrink shot 83 for a 36-hole total of 166.
Hobbs, in third place after the first day, stormed to the team title at 304-308 — 612, four shots ahead of Roswell Goddard (311-305 — 616). Socorro, the first-day leader, shot 324 on Tuesday to finish third at 625.
Hobbs' Ryan Hawkins was the individual winner, coming in at three-under-par overall at 68-72 — 140. Sandia Prep's Isaac Alderete was second, two shots back after a two-under 69 on Tuesday.
PHS squads return to action next Tuesday in the Hobbs Invite.
