A 58-year-old Clovis man faces 33 years in prison after a jury convicted him Friday on multiple counts of possessing and distributing child pornography, according to District Attorney Matt Chandler.
Chandler said the jury took about half an hour to convict William Marquis, who had been free on bond. Marquis was taken into custody after the jury's verdict and faces sentencing by 9th Judicial District Chief Judge Teddy Hartley at a date not yet determined.
Chandler said Marquis was found guilty of all 12 felony counts of possessing and another five felony counts of distributing child pornography.
"Those who participate in the viewing and sharing of sexual images of children are just as culpable as the criminals that are in the business of manufacturing the images," Chandler said in a press release. "It is sad but true, each image produced and distributed represents a sexually abused child and every time that child's image is downloaded and viewed that child is victimized all over again."
