The Portales Lady Rams were ousted from state Class 1A-3A tennis competition on Friday with an 8-1 loss to top-seeded Bosque at Albuquerque Academy H.S.
The Lady Rams' only win came on an injury forfeit by the Bobcats to juniors Emily Walker and Jessie Privett at No. 1 doubles. PHS, though, did take Bosque to three sets at No. 4 singles, where freshman Ryann Privett lost 6-2, 1-6, 4-6, and at No. 6 singles, where sophomore Hannah Evans was beaten 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, and in a supertiebreaker at No. 3 doubles, where Evans and fellow sophomore McKenzie Bucksath dropped a 1-6, 6-4 (10-4) verdict.
