Faith is only real source of security

Elisha’s servant went out early in the morning and discovered the King’s force had surrounded the city. He rushed to Elisha in a panic. He prayed, “O, my Lord, what shall we do?” The Lord opened the servant’s eyes and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire.

“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

This story confirms the fact that we do not see by sight alone. We walk by faith and faith is the victory. If we could see into the invisible kingdom like Elisha we would not be afraid either.

Faith and trust realize the power of an Almighty God in the life of a Christian. Seeing problems through the eyes of faith brings peace in a troubled world. I am troubled by the doubt of negativity. The media doesn’t spread many positives.

Trusting God and believing his promises calm the anxious heart. The Bible is filled with example after example of God’s faithfulness. Imagine how the Israelites felt when they saw Pharaoh and his army behind them and the Red Sea rolling in front of them. Around 600,000 people had to cross the Red Sea at night and they had to hurry.

I hardly think Moses stopped to think of the enormity of the situation. On the contrary he simple believed and trusted God.

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:13-14 NIV).

What an encouraging statement for those whose trust in God. Trusting God is a shield from much grief, anxiety and sorrow. A lack of trust fills a life with untold stress and health problems.

Can we trust God no matter what? Even in death the God has a refuge. “For this great God is our God forever and ever. He will be our guide until we die” (Psalm 48:14 TLB).

God does not forsake those who trust him. (Psalm 9:10). No matter what we face God will never leave us.

Children don’t have to understand intellectual concepts of the universe. They trust and believe. A loving look and a gentle touch makes a happy day. We could learn a lot from children.

A lack of trust prevents one from receiving God’s best. The Israelites had to wonder 40 years for their lack of trust. Worry and a lack of trust bring a heart and an insecure future.

So how do we trust in God?

Give Jesus charge of your life, today, tomorrow and forever with a knowing that only he alone can save us.

Believe his promises. Rely on him to give the power to change a life.

Knowing our faith is based on our relationship with God, not our performance in trying to earn it.

Placing total confidence in him knowing he forgives our sins makes us right with God and empowering us to live by his teachings.

Having completed our trust in God we live victoriously, looking forward to eternity with him. It makes this life happier. It makes every day special. It makes every smile, every touch, and every kindness a wonderful day.

Trusting in God enables you to hold in your heart the faces of those you love and every memory you cherish.

Look at the world through the eyes of faith, goodness and love. It comes from God, the source of love.

That is real security.
