Brenda Fenton has worked at the Portales Fire Department for the past 29 years, and worked at the Portales Police Department for 14 years prior to going to the Fire Department. She was recently awarded as Employee of the Quarter for the months of July through September by her co-workers.

for the city in 1970 as a communications officer at the Portales Police Department. She now works as fire department secretary and the ambulance billing supervisor, and was recently named Employee of the Quarter for the months of July, August, and September.

What are your hobbies or interests?

I like working in my yard, which I have not done enough of this year.

When you found out you were elected employee of the quarter, how did it feel?

To be nominated and selected by your peers is a real honor and I was really humbled by it.

What is your dream vacation?

I just like to drive and stop at each town and check it out as I go, which I have not done much of but it is a good dream.

What is your favorite part about living in Roosevelt County?

I like the small town atmosphere and it was a nice, safe place to raise my children.

Who are some of your favorite musical acts?

Not just one, I like all kinds of music, mainly country.

What is a memorable Halloween costume you have had?

One year we sat in my front yard in sheets and jumped at the Trick or Treaters when they came up. Lots of fun.

In 43 years of service to the city of Portales, what is a memorable moment you have?

I can't pick just one. I have worked with so many great people that have all left me with some wonderful memories.
