The Girl Scouts of the Eastern Plains region used a Cookie Rally on Saturday to fire up scouts for the annual cookie sale.
The annual pre-sale get together was held at the Matt 25 Hope Center in Clovis.

Tera Wong-Williams, youth development specialist at Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails, Inc. said the rally helps girls learn how to market the cookies.
Wong-Williams said all 12 troops from Clovis were represented at the event, also open to Portales area scouts. About 50 girls and their families attended the rally.
The rally included several tables of activities that were not only fun, but taught the girls skills for selling cookies.
One table featured girls getting their nails painted the colors of the cookie boxes they will be selling. Before each nail was painted a volunteer asked which cookies the color represented. When they got it right, they would get their nails painted.
The activity was designed to help the girls remember what type of cookies they are selling.
At another table, girls learned how to count back money and learn the price of the cookies. One girl would ask for a box of cookies and give one of the girls behind the table a $10 or $50 bill. The girls then had to make change, counting back the money.
“They are learning some great skills and it gets them pumped up for selling cookies,” said Roberta Wanggoner, a scout leader and has been with Girl Scouts for 20 years.
Money earned selling cookies is used help pay costs of individual troops. For Girl Scout Anissa Corrales, 12, troops it will be for a Girl Scout travel group.
“We are going to go to New York this summer,” Corrales said excitedly.
Monica Griego’s daughter and step-daughter just joined the Girl Scouts and are selling cookies for the first time.
“They are really excited about it and can’t wait to start selling,” Griego said.
Cookie sales start Monday with the girls going door-to-door and will end on Jan. 26th. Cookies will be delivered from Feb. 14-20 and booth sales around town are Feb. 28-March 30.
